Full Itinerary
DAY 1: Pickup from Nairobi – Transfer to the Masai Mara – Game drive
Our company Guide will pick you up from the airport, your residence or hotel at 7:00am and begin the 6-hour journey to the Masai Mara Reserve. You will pass through the great plains of the East African rift valley, Masai land and the district of Narok. The Masai are one of Africa’s last remaining true cattle nomads. They live close to the Masai Mara Reserve and depend entirely on their domestic animals for survival. The driver should make stops for photography at the crater region and also to allow you buy souvenir at Narok town. This is also the time to for refreshments and anyone who wishes to visit a bathroom. The Guides will advise you on what to do at all times.
Arrival at the reserve is in the afternoon. You will be taken for lunch, check-in with your hotel and refreshments. Depending on the lodge you choose, you should already be viewing wildlife from a distance. The Driver will then take you for the afternoon/evening game drive. The afternoon/evening game should allow you to see buffaloes, elephants and antelopes. You should go all the way to the river to see hippos, crocodiles, cheetahs and the elusive leopard.

DAY 2: Full Day Game Driver at the Masai Mara National Reserve
Wake up early for one of the most interesting days of your life. You will spend the whole day driving through different sections of the reserve in our vehicle. You will have clear views of the wildlife and landscape from the open roof vehicle. Expect to see all the big five mammals including buffaloes, leopard, lions, rhino and elephants. The morning game drive offers an excellent opportunity for witnessing predators like lions and cheetahs making a kill. Don’t forget to move with your cameras so that you take beautiful photos of Africa’s famous mammals.
The Driver/Guide will take you to the Mara river where you will see more of the big five and other animals as they come to drink along the river banks in the early afternoon heat. The Mara river is where the great animal migration occurs every year. In-between the game drives, you will have picnic lunch amidst beautiful nature and wildlife. The picnic lunch is prepared by your hotel and carried in boxes. Do not attempt to feed the animals especially baboons and monkeys while having lunch. One of the breaks will involve visiting one of the Masai villages (Manyattas) living close to the reserve. A manayatta is a collection of traditional huts which are surrounded by thorny fences with cows in the middle. The thorny fences help protect the villagers and animals from predators like lions and leopards. During your village visit, you will meet the elders to learn about the nomadic life of the Masai people, their customs and culture. While with them, you will be treated to traditional dances, songs and folk stories. Most Masai villages have a market place where you can buy souvenirs and beads.

DAY 3: Final Game drive – Transfer to Nairobi
Wake up early and wait for the driver to take you for the last game drive. The game drive will be done at the Masai plains to catch the predators hunting once again. Look out for lions, ostriches, giraffes, jackals and hyenas. The Masai Mara is one of the few places were once can still see wild Rhinos roaming freely. After this game drive, you will be taken back to the hotel for checkout. The Guide/Driver will then start the journey back to Nairobi. As you travel to Nairobi, you will have an opportunity to do shopping and visiting local artisan shops. The driver will drop you at residence, hotel or at the airport.

General Information
The Masai Maraa is the best and most visit National reserve in Kenya. It is located at the border between Kenya and Tanzania. Most of the wildlife congregate along the rivers and marshes. Game drives start in the morning and go on throughout the day and in the night.
The best time and peak season for a safari in the Masai Maraa is in the Months of July, August, September and October. This is the time when the wildebeest and other mammals cross the Mara river to enjoy the fresh/new grass on the Kenya side.
Balloon safaris are also possible within the Maraa at an extra cost. The balloon safari offers an aerial view of the great national reserve and breathtaking scenery. If you happen to visit during the peak months of the great wildlife migrations, you will have a treat.
In order to have the most memorable safari in the Mara, you need to consider bringing toiletries, a small towel, Sunscreen, lip-balm, first aid equipment, an insect repellent, flashlights, binoculars, a camera, batteries for your gadgets, memory cards, a hut, sun glasses, a back pack, a warm sweater, long sleeved shirts and long trousers.
Accommodation
There are several accommodation facilities within the Masai Mara reserve. Some of them include, Kichwa Tembo, Keekorok Lodge, Mara Sopa Lodge, Mara Serena Loge, Governor’s Camp and Sekenani budget Camp to mention but a few. We will be discussing three of them in more detail:
Masai Mara Sopa Lodge: This was one of the very first lodges built in the Masai Mara. It is built on top of the Oloolaimutia hills. The lodge is surrounded by impressive scenery with lush gardens and trees. The rooms are built in African traditional design and material but with a modern finish. A large swimming pool is at the center. Masai Mara Sopa Lodge has 99 rooms including a honeymoon suite and 12 specially designed ultra-luxury suites.
Other facilities include a conference room, a bar, restaurant, a gift shop and lounge area. Wi-Fi is free and can be accessed from every room. The lodge is a great choice for those who are interested in birding, game drives, nature walks and hot air balloon safaris.
Mara Serena Safari Lodge: The Serena hotel in Masai Mara offers you all the luxuries you may require while visiting the amazing Mara. It is the only lodge that is built within the Mara Triangle. Because of its location, the lodge offers great views of the savanna and the great Mara River. All the rooms are built in traditional Masai style and resemble a typical Manyatta setting but with modern and luxurious looks. The rooms are all self-contained and with their own private balconies. The lodge has a gym, spa, swimming pool, a gift shop, Satellite TV at gathering points, free Wi-Fi, medical services, a conference center, family rooms and a presidential suite. Sarova Mara Game Camp: Sarova Mara prides itself as the best game camp in Kenya and they may be right. The luxury camp is built right in the middle of where all the action in the reserve takes place. If you book with them, expect to witness the full drama and spectacle of the wildebeest migration. Residents can take part in several activities while at the lodge among which include sport fishing, birding, golf and countless wildlife encounters. There are 20 luxury tents in the camp all offering great views of the Masai mara and the savanna plains. The tents are luxurious and spacious. Each tent has a large bed, wardrobes, a lounge and a working desk. If you are traveling with children or as a family, then you can be offered the family tents which have all the space you need. If you want cheaper standard tents, then you can be offered one from the 50 available on-site.
